Last Saturday on the fifteenth of July, one hundred and twenty five guests filled the Smoking Goat at Sydney Rowing Club at sundown. Eagerly awaiting to eat, drink and be merry, all the attendees had gathered together for the night to raise money for the young athletes selected into Australian representative teams traveling to Bulgaria(U23) , New Zealand (U21) and Lithuania (Junior).
As guests took their seats at elaborately furnished tables, they were treated to live music from talented acoustic musician Jackson Besley as they were served an excellent three course meal. The night was led by the evening’s master of ceremonies, renowned sports commentator and former rugby union player Tim Sheridan, who captivated the audience with his humour and wit throughout the evening.
The evening included various forms of entertainment for guests, including a raffle and a mystery raffle. For the main raffle first prize was four tickets to the last Ashes Test at the SCG, second prize was a $200 voucher for Dede’s Restaurant and third prize was a $100 gift voucher for UTS Haberfield Club. Mystery Balloons which boasted prizes such as clothing from famed Australian designer Ruby Yaya, as well as gift vouchers from Bunnings, Harvey Norman and Doyles.
The night also featured both live and silent auctions. The silent auction featured prizes such as two hour family photo packages, a Westfield gift voucher, brand new electric lawn mowers, and various hampers including a craft beer hamper sponsored by iconic Australian breweries such as Pirate Life, Batch, Stone & Wood and Wayward Breweries.
The live auction, presented by professional auctioneer Michael Carolan from AuctioneerCo who donated his time for the event, featured illustrious prizes including relaxing weekend holidays at exclusive beach houses situated upon the pristine beaches of North Avoca and Patonga, as well as a day cruise for ten on the custom designed luxury motor yacht MV Castaway with an indulgent seafood luncheon with beverages. The live auction also featured a signed and framed 2017 NSW State of Origin jersey and a round of golf with Rugby League legends Brad Fittler and Greg Alexander at the exclusive Monash Golf Course on Sydney’s northern beaches.
The night was an immense success due to the overwhelming support from all attendees. Thank you to all the friends and family of the athletes and all the sponsors who gave so generously.
