National and Interstate Champions Crowned at #AMRC25

The 2025 Australian Masters Rowing Championships are finished, bringing to a close an amazing 2024-25 racing season out at SIRC. Racing on home water, our NSW clubs put together some amazing performances which will be remembered for years to come.

On the club side, North Shore rose to the top of the medal table on the fourth and final day, and won the Champion Club point score. Mosman and Leichhardt also had strong regattas, placing 6th and 8th on the medal table, respectively.

North Shore's dominance was buoyed by Olivia Tonge, who delivered 15 total medals (10 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze), won the Individual Point Score and was the first NSW athlete to top the individual medal table in over a decade. Other standout individual performances included Katrina Davis (Shoalhaven) winning the Women's Champion of Champions Single to cap a strong four days of racing. Jack Hanley (Newcastle) sprinted over the line for a Bronze in the Men's CoC Single to finish off the regatta.

In interstate racing, our NSW representatives put together a valiant effort against some top-tier competition. Kevin Wall of Lake Illawarra was the standout, leading the Men's PR3 Single from start to finish and delivering our only Interstate gold. In the Women's PR3 Single, Micah Kelly from Glebe took home a strong silver.

Heroic efforts from our Women's Quad and Eight brought two silver medals, with the Quad finishing a tantalising 0.96 seconds shy of Victoria. Our Men's Quad and Eight put together gritty performances, each missing the podium by just one place.

Conditions throughout the regatta were chilly but conducive to fantastic racing, and the Championships were a great way to wrap up a memorable 2024-25 racing season. Congratulations to all who competed!

Rowing Together for the Mid North Coast

In May 2025, catastrophic flooding struck the Mid North coast region of NSW, devastating the local communities and leaving Manning River Rowing Club under water—literally. The club’s newly built clubhouse, a vital hub for athletes, volunteers, and regattas, sustained over $400,000 in damage. With no flood insurance coverage due to its riverside location, the club now faces a heartbreaking road to recovery.

Rowing Together: Natural Disaster Relief is a nationwide fundraising effort to support not only the rebuilding of the Manning River Rowing Club but to stand in solidarity with rowing communities affected by natural disasters. Every donation—big or small—will go directly towards restoring this vital piece of our sport’s infrastructure, ensuring generations of rowers can continue to launch from Manning’s banks.

Let’s show what our rowing community can do when we pull together. Click here to donate now - all donations are tax deductible via the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF).
