NSW wins big at 2026 Australian Rowing Championships

Published Mon 30 Mar 2026

The 2026 Australian Rowing Championships in Tasmania have wrapped up, and NSW crews had an incredible week of racing.

Our Interstate team reclaimed the John Coates AC Cup in convincing fashion, winning five of the ten Interstate races and placing well in the others.

Flynn Wilkinson started us off with a win in the PR3 Men's Single Scull Trophy, retaining the title he won for the first time in 2025. More small boats success followed, with Marcus Della Marta fighting hard to earn his first-ever President's Cup, before Tara Rigney delivered a statement performance to win her record-equalling fifth consecutive Nell Slatter Trophy. In the big boats, our Noel F. Wilkinson Trophy eight were imperious from start to finish, and our Queen's Cup crew were equally dominant in retaining their title from 2025.

Our Penrith Cup four put in a strong row to finish second, while fourth-place finishes were secured by our King's Cup, Bicentennial Cup, Victoria Cup and PR3 Women's Single Georgina Browning on NSW debut. To contest the entire Interstate regatta and not finish below fourth in any race is an amazing achievement - congratulations to the entire team on their efforts. Every crew that wore the Waratah on Sunday did so with complete dedication and pride.

NSW clubs and schools also delivered exceptional results across the 2026 Australian Rowing Championships.

The medal tally reflects our state's incredible week: 46 gold medals, 40.875 silver medals, and 40.375 bronze medals. This means that 127.25 total medals were secured by NSW crews at ARC26, significantly higher than any other state or territory (Victorian crews sit second with 76.625 total medals).

Sydney Rowing Club once again topped the medal tally thanks to a Sunday surge in the Club Eights, seeing off interstate challengers and repeating as Champion Club of Australia in 2026.

Congratulations NSW athletes, coaches, volunteers, and supporters!
