| A golden international season for NSW athletes |
While NSW rolled over into the 2026-27 season, our Australian representatives were achieving some amazing results on the international stage:
World Cup 3 in Lucerne
Australia's Women's Eight, featuring NSW athletes Samantha Morton, Jaime Ford, and Laura Gourley, claimed a well-deserved silver medal. Finishing 5th in the same race was the Australia A boat with Gabriela Morton, Sophie Houston, Caitlin McManus Barrett, Star Rose Miller, and cox Anna O’Hanlon. In the Women's Four, Georgie Rowe stroked the crew to a strong silver. In the PR1 Men's Single, Erik Horrie added to his international medal tally with a silver medal. Tara Rigney continued her return to the international circuit with a bronze in the Women's Single. In the Men's Eight, Paddy Holt (Qld/UTS), Alex Nichol and cox Nick Dunlop helped the crew to a bronze of their own. Other NSW results were:
- Men's Quad - 6th - Marcus Della Marta, Cormac Kennedy-Leverett (ACT/Sydney)
- Women's Quad - 7th - Emily Sheppard, Sarah Fahd
- Men's Four Aus A - 7th - Henry Blackwell, Alexander McClean
- Men's Four Aus 1 - 9th - Lachlan Doust, Jackson Kench
- Men's Pair - 12th - Mackenzie Thompson
U23 World Championships in Duisburg
The highlight of this regatta was a dominant win for the all-NSW Women's Pair; Lucy Searle and Imogen Grey powered through their A-Final to claim gold for Australia. In the Men's Four, Alec Hoskin's crew led through 1000m and finished with silver. The Men's Eight, featuring NSW athletes James Frederikson, Rory Menzies, Ed Nutt, and Matias Moloney, finished 4th in their A-Final. The Men's Quad saw Tobias Elias help the crew to a B-Final win and 7th overall placing, while Leila Gaston and the Women's Four finished 9th overall.
Filippi Lido Beach Sprint Regatta in Tuscany
Coached by Olympic gold medallist Spencer Turrin, NSW athletes Oscar Scheel-Gamborg and Bella Scammell teamed up in the Mixed Double, finishing a strong 6th of 39 crews in the time trial, going down to a powerful Austrian combo in the knockouts. In the Singles, they finished 17th (of 65) and 27th (from 50) respectively.

| U19 NSW athletes get first taste of green & gold |
NSW athletes featured heavily in Australia's U19 teams in the international season:
U19 World Championships in Plovdiv (ongoing)
The all-NSW Women's Quad of Elyse Coates, Elouise Stephens, Patricia Boland, and Summer Phillips finished 5th in their heat yesterday, and will race the C-Final at 4:50pm today. Good luck girls! View live results here.
U19 Australia B Team at International Rowing Challenge in Ypsilanti, Michigan
Supported by Billigence and Rowing NSW, the inaugural U19 Australia B Rowing Team delivered an outstanding performance, winning four gold and three silver medals at the International Rowing Challenge to top the team point score. NSW athletes featured were Isabella Henderson, Harriet O'Dwyer, Lucy Reidy, Ewan Humphreys, Leighton Schomann, and coach Kendall Brodie. View full results here. read more > |

Rowing NSW is proud to continue its partnership with Gotcha4Life for Australia’s biggest fundraising rowing event - the 24 Hour Row, taking place on 12 -13 September 2026.
Across 24 hours, teams come together from across the country to row in relay on ergs to connect and challenge themselves to make a real difference. Nobody does it alone, and that's exactly the point.

| NSW Indoor Series continues this month with Round 2 |
The NSW Indoor Rowing Series is underway for another season, and Round 2 is set for 17-23 August 2026.
With the Row Nation app, you can race from your erg at home, at your club, or at the gym. Log your results at any time during the event period in the Row Nation app, and see how you stack up on the live leaderboard!
The following events will be returning this year: 2000m, 1000m, 500m, 150m, Team Relay (4 x 500m), and 30 minutes open rate. Racing is available in these categories:

| ICYMI: David Cameron OLY appointed Deputy President, casual vacancy on Rowing NSW Boars |
In July, the Rowing NSW Board appointed David Cameron OLY as Deputy President following the departure of Stephen Handley OAM OLY.
David joined the Board in October 2022 and brings extensive experience across rowing, education and corporate finance. A member of Glebe Rowing Club, he represented NSW and Australia in the single scull, including at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, while rowing with Lower Clarence Rowing Club.
David is now a Head of House and senior science teacher at International Grammar School and is particularly focused on school rowing and improving the retention of school leavers in the sport. He will continue in his role as Chair of the Rowing NSW State Selection Panel.
In accordance with clause 35 of the Rowing NSW Constitution, David’s appointment creates a casual vacancy on the Rowing NSW Board in the office of Director.
RNSW invites Constituent Members to nominate Registered Members to fill this casual vacancy. Each Constituent Member may nominate one Registered Member as a candidate for the vacancy.
Nominations must be submitted, via the approved nomination and application form to the RNSW office by email to ceo@rowingnsw.asn.au by 5.00pm on Monday 17 August 2026.

| Notification of Marine Construction Works - Callan Park Tidal Baths Project, Iron Cove |
Inner West Council has advised that water-based construction works for the new Callan Park Tidal Baths on Iron Cove Bay, will commence from Monday, 10 August 2026, with completion currently anticipated in January 2027.
To keep stakeholders informed, the Inner West Council has established a dedicated project webpage that will provide updates on project progress, upcoming activities and any changes that may affect access or operations in the area.

The NSW Government is accepting applications for a number of grants which may be of interest to NSW clubs:
Local Sport Grant Program
The Local Sport Grant Program aims to increase regular and on-going participation opportunities in sport in NSW. The grant is targeted towards incorporated, not-for-profit grassroots sport clubs and associations whose primary focus is to organise sporting activities; deliver on-going sporting programs; and/or develop member’s skills. If you own a boat, download the Marine Rescue NSW app to help you stay safe on the water.

Bike Helmets and Etiquette @ SIRC
We would like to thank everyone for complying with this request at our past few regattas at SIRC, and we look forward to seeing this continue.
- Only coaches are able to access the bike paths to follow their crews down the course. Spectators will not be allowed to access the bike paths to walk around the venue or to ride up and down the course.
- Please wear your bike helmets when riding around the venue.

Working with Children Checks
Working with Children Checks are valid for 5 years. If yours expires soon, you can now save time by renewing it online.
- To help verify your identity, you’ll be asked to scan your face using the camera on your phone, tablet or computer. Your scan will then be matched with the photo on your NSW Driver Licence or NSW Photo Card. Scans will be permanently deleted after the check has been completed.
- If you’d prefer, you can still renew in-person with your identity documents at a Service NSW centre.
