Henley Royal Regatta Day 3

Thinks are starting to heat up at Henley Royal Regatta tonight being Day 3 of the action. With our first glimpse of a number of crews. Sydney Rowing Club again have a strong contingent but we are excited to see St Catherine’s and Pymble Ladies College for the first time. (All times below AEST)

First up tonight at 7:05pm is SRC in the Thames Challenge Cup for Men’s Club 8. They face off against Molesey Boat Club ‘B’, with UTS Haberfield’s Paralympian Tom Birtwhistle on board. Sydney’s former Henley winning coach Franz Imfeld is now the Head Coach at Molesey adding additional spice to this contest. Sydney boast a very strong crew that includes the immensely talented Brad Graham as well as Alex Nichol who has represented Australia at underage level on multiple occasions. Sydney rowed well last night notching the win against Vesta ‘A’.

At 7:45pm, SRC are again featured in the first round of the Fawley Challenge Cup for Junior Men’s Quad. Sydney have a very strong record on this event, having won this event twice.

At 8:05pm, former Queenwood athlete Alex Smits will be racing for Radcliffe Crew ‘A” in the Island for student women’s eights, taking on Durham University.

St Catherine’s after their maiden Head of the River win in the Schoolgirl eights make their Henley debut at 8:50pm. They take on Tideway Scullers School in the Prince Phillip for junior women’s eights.

Set your alarm clock to 12:45am to see Pymble Ladies College taken on Sir William Perkins’s School in the Diamond Jubilee for Junior Women’s quad. It will be the second Australian crew in as many days for Sir William Perkins’s School after they defeated Tasmania’s Buckingham Rowing Club who had a mishap in the early stages that put paid to their chances.

Lastly at 3:05am, SRC's crew containing Henley Women’s Regatta winners Talisa Knoke-Driver and Lucy Searle, along with Amelia De Villiers and Neve Tierney meet Lea R.C. in the Diamond Jubilee.
