Rowing NSW congratulates Tim McLaren OAM, recently endorsed by the Rowing Australia Board, the past Presidents of Rowing Australia, and the Member Associations as a Life Member of Rowing Australia.

Life Membership stands as one of the highest honours within Rowing Australia, awarded only to individuals whose contribution to the sport spans more than a decade and has had a lasting national impact. Tim has shaped Australian and international rowing across multiple generations.

An Olympic Silver medallist in the Men’s Quadruple Scull at the 1984 Olympic Games, McLaren transitioned into coaching and quickly established himself as one of the sport’s leading high-performance minds.

From building Tasmania’s early high-performance systems to coaching Australia’s Men’s Double Scull to Olympic Gold in 1992, his influence has been both immediate and enduring.

His leadership at UTS Haberfield Rowing Club produced dozens of Olympians and multiple Olympic medals, while his tenure as Head Coach of the US Men’s National Team further cemented his global reputation.

Congratulations, Tim!
