2023 Australian Underage Teams Preview Update 19/7

It is all happening for our Underage Australian Rowing Team members in the lead up to their various international regattas. The U23 Team have arrived in Plovdiv over the weekend with racing getting underway on Wednesday evening AEST with the Women's Coxed Four kicking off the regatta with a race for lanes at 6 PM AEST. With 4 NSW athletes in the crew we are excited to see what the girls can produce in the capable hands of the 2023 First Team IRCA All-American Nicholas Dunlop. The A Final for that event will be on at 6:49 PM on Saturday.

The Men's Coxed 4 has the might of the US, Germany and Great Britain in their event so it will exciting to see if Alexander Wood can lead his crew into the A Final and onto the podium. The Men's Coxed Four will be at 6:10 PM with the boys looking for a Top 2 finish to progress straight through to the A Final on Sat at 6:59 PM

On Thursday afternoon we will be able to see the rest of our NSW athletes in action with the Men's Eight first up at 4:10 PM AEST. The boys are looking to qualify Top 2 to go straight to the A Final on Sunday 07:32 PM AEST. The crew is led by 2024 Yale Captain Harry Keenan with this teammate from Yale Alexander McClean from Mosman Rowing Club looking to repeat their Bronze Medal efforts of last year in Varese. The Men's Four has Nikolas Pender from UTS who will be looking for strong showing in an always hotly contested event with the heats starting at 4:55PM AEST with Top 3 to go though the SF on Saturday.

Looking to repeat the success of last year making it to the A Final, Grace Sypher has been going from strength to strength over the past couple of months down at Sydney Rowing Club. Grace is in Heat 2 of the Lightweight Single Scull from 5:15PM AEST

The Trans Tasman Regatta against New Zealand coming up next weekend 27 - 29 July in Karapiro, NZ with our U21 athletes now in Canberra acclimatising to what will be chilly conditions across the ditch! The team is excited with the athletes receiving their kits at a presentation last night in what will be exciting head to head racing against NZ.

The U19 team are over in Gavirate Italy, at the European Training Centre in preparation for the U19 World Championships in Paris, France on August 2-6. With a large NSW contingent in the team we look to sharing their updates on socials and make sure to keep an eye out on the Rowing NSW socials for more details closer to racing.
