Iron Cove | Drilling Work - Barge Moored

A barge is moored between Rodd Point and UTS Haberfield Rowing Club conducting drilling work as part of the Sydney Metro network. The barge will move between 3 locations, drilling one site at a time and be surrounded by an exclusion zone of between 20 and 40 metres.  We recommend Iron Cove users navigate with extreme caution around the work which is due to take place between 14 December and 28 December 2020 and again between 6 January and 27 January 2021. 

Vale - Don Roberts OAM | Nepean Rowing Club, St Ignatius College and Sydney Grammar School

The NSW Rowing community is saddened to learn of the passing of Don Roberts OAM, aged 86 years.  Don's funeral was held on Wednesday, December 9th 2020 at St Bernadette's Catholic Church, Castle Hill.  The following tribute was kindly provided by Charlie Rowe.   Don’s rowing career started on the Nepean River when he joined Nepean Rowing Club as a coxswain when he was nine years old.

Manning River Rowing Club - Rebuild | Progress Update

Manning River Rowing Club continues to make great progress with the rebuild of the clubhouse following the destructive storm that occurred at the 2019 Central Districts Rowing Association Championships which saw the roof blown off the building with parts strewn across the main street. The $1.6 million project is funded from the insurance claim, a $600,000 NSW Government Grant, members funds and donations from the rowing community including the NSW Union of Rowers.

Book Release | Steve Hinchy A True Rowing Friend | Ian Mathieson

Rowing Queensland and Commercial Rowing Club have commissioned a second print run of Ian Mathieson's tribute to Steve Hinchy, A True Rowing Friend.   To minimise duplication of efforts, Greg Smith is kindly acting as the NSW agent for copies of the book which retails for $50 and has a very limited number for sale.  Greg and the rowing community will look to  hand deliver copies to purchasers in an effort to minimise shipping costs.  

The Laurie Stepto Scholarship | Applications Now Open

The Laurie Stepto Scholarship is an annual award provided by the Laurie Stepto Trust to an aspiring New South Wales based rower to commemorate the great contribution of Laurie Stepto to the sport of rowing to ensure that his name and legacy live on.

The NSW Rowing community is saddened to learn of the passing of former King's School, Leichhardt Rowing Club, Sydney Rowing Club and Mosman Rowing Club sculler and oarsman Stuart (Sam) Mackenzie - Olympic Silver Medallist and six-time Diamond Challenge Sculls winner at Henley Royal Regatta - aged 84 years. Â
