Hailing all the way from the Sunshine State of Queensland and fresh of the transfer market we have New South Wales' very own Harriet Hudson in for a yarn. Harriet or Haz as her friends like to call her is a very talented young rower currently boating out of Sydney Rowing Club. She also represented Australia last year in the Junior Women’s Single Scull and will be hungry for a trial come nationals this year.
Some of Harriet’s more notable achievements include:
- Making the A final of the JW1x at the 2016 World Championships
- Winning 6 Gold medals at The Open Nationals in 2016
- Recently being selected into the Queens Cup squad for the first time

Love a good steak. A side of crunchy thick cut chips is a must.

Anywhere that I can snow ski – Canada, America, Europe

That’s a toughie – probably my family / friends
How long have you been rowing?
6 years. I began my rowing career in year 8 at Somerville House (the bright green school)
Most memorable race and why?
I have 2 races that come to mind. The first, most recent race would have to be the u23 single at NSW states this year (it was an incredibly tight race for 1st and 2nd place). I absolutely love close racing as I often find that I am able to push myself to the very edge. The other most memorable race for me would have to be the Junior scull final at the World Champs in Rotterdam last year (I have never raced in such difficult conditions before.) Whilst it wasn’t the result I was hoping for, I learnt so much about myself and how to manage my mental state: you can’t control the uncontrollable.
Favourite training session?
I absolutely love a good T2 20km paddle in the skiff OR 6x 1500’s r24 w/ 1’ at 28 @ 1000m
Other Facts about you?
I am from rural Queensland (despite having “transferred” to NSW in rowing, you will never find me barracking for the blues in the state of origin (uppah Queensland!), I would rather watch the movie than read the book (sorry Mum!)
