Two weeks until massive Season Opener at SIRC

In just over two weeks, SIRC will play host to a massive season opening weekend.

The 2025 Loreto Normanhurst Regatta (Saturday 25 October) celebrates the oldest schoolgirl rowing program in NSW, and for the first time in 10 years the regatta programme incorporates schoolboy events too. After a big offseason honing their skills and endurance in training camps, we're excited to see the top school rowers in NSW battle it out over 2000m for the first time this season.

The 2025 Spring Time Attack (Sunday 26 October) continues the competition with the same popular time-based progression system which debuted at All Schools last year, now open to HP, Masters, and Club athletes. Look forward to razor-thin margins and extremely close finals.

Entries are open now for both regattas - see you at SIRC!

NSW Rowsellas bring home two World Championships medals

Two bronze medals are coming home to NSW! We're incredibly proud of the NSW Rowsellas who represented Australia at the 2025 World Rowing Championships last month, facing incredibly tough hot conditions in Shanghai.

NSW para athletes led the charge. Lisa Greissl from Lake Macquarie delivered an amazing final 500m in the PR3 Mixed Double with Sam Stunnell to take bronze. Erik Horrie of Sydney Rowing Club added another World Championships medal to his legendary career tally, finishing 3rd in the PR1 Single. Congratulations to our medallists!

In the big boats, Alexander McClean (Mosman Rowing Club), Alex Nichol and cox Nick Dunlop (both Sydney Rowing Club) helped the Men's Eight to a close 4th place. Laura Gourley (UTS Haberfield), Zara Collisson, Jaime Ford and Sophie Houston (all SUBC) were part of the Women's Eight which finished 6th.

Nik Pender (UTS Haberfield) was in the Men's Four which came 5th, and Georgie Rowe (UTS Haberfield) won the Women's Four B Final to finish 7th. The all-NSW Women's Pair of Taylor Caudle and Eleanor Price, (both SUBC), finished 11th overall.

Congratulations and well done to all our World Championships representatives - we are so proud of your efforts, and we can't wait to see you at SIRC this season.

Outstanding showing for NSW clubs at World Rowing Masters Regatta

The 2025 World Rowing Masters Regatta took place in Banyoles, Spain, last month from 10-14 September, and NSW clubs were out in force. Armidale, Balmain, Drummoyne, Glebe, Lake Macquarie, Leichhardt, Manning River, Mosman, Newcastle, North Shore, St George, and UTS Haberfield were all represented.

Their performances were amazing: a haul of gold medals for many of our clubs, even though only first place receives a medal at this regatta! The success of these athletes is a testament to the strength of the Masters rowing community in NSW. We are so proud of your efforts and achievements.
