Looking back on a whirlwind international season |
While NSW rolled over into the 2025/26 season, our Australian representatives were hard at work on the international stage, with several standout results:
World Cups in Varese and Lucerne
Erik Horrie (PR1 Single) and Nik Pender (Men's Four) won gold at both regattas. Lisa Greissl (PR3 Mixed Double) and Georgie Rowe (Women's Four) took home silver at both regattas. The Women's Eight (featuring different combinations of Laura Gourley, Taylor Caudle, Zara Collisson, Emily Sheppard, Jaime Ford, and Georgie Rowe) won bronze at both regattas. It was great to see our athletes take on the world's best, and these results will set them up well for the World Championships in September. Check out World Rowing for all our medal winners.
Henley Royal Regatta
The highlight at Henley was undoubtedly Nik Pender, Alex Nichol, and coxswain Nick Dunlop teaming up as part of the eight that took home the Grand Challenge Cup for the first time since 2018, equalling that crew's record. Other NSW standouts included Sydney's Wyfold crew making it to a tricky finals day, and Kinross Wolaroi's eight making the semi-finals.
U23 World Championships in Poznan
Ten NSW athletes represented Australia at these Championships, and while competition was tough, their results will prepare them well for senior international racing. We're extremely proud of their efforts. Standout performers included James Frederikson and Edward Nutt just missing the podium (4th) in the Men's Eight, and Joe Lynch and Josh Wilson taking the Men's Four to 5th place.
