Senior World Cup and U23 Australian Rowing Teams Announced

Rowing Australia has announced its 2025 Senior World Cup and Under 23 World Championship Teams following a week of intense trials at the Sydney International Regatta Centre (SIRC) in Penrith. 

The selected Senior athletes will head to Europe in just over a month to begin their international swing, competing at World Cups in Varese (Italy), Lucerne (Switzerland), and the Para International Regatta in Paris. All will have an eye on making the final Rowsellas squad for the World Rowing Championships in Shanghai in September.

The U23 team will race at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Poznan, Poland, from July 23-27.

We're thrilled to announce that 12 of the 37 Senior athletes selected and 10 of the 23 U23 athletes selected are from NSW, making us the most-represented state overall. Congratulations to the athletes selected:

Boat Driver Information & Training Day on 17 May

Rowing NSW is hosting an Information and training day for people interested in becoming Boat Drivers at Rowing NSW Regattas. Boat drivers play an important role in the running of all Club, State and National regattas at the Sydney International Rowing Centre and other venues, be it for Umpire boats following races, marshalling boats or safety boats.

The information session will take place at this year’s NSW Masters Championships on Saturday 17th May, during the lunch break, with some on-water training to follow. There will be some flexibility available for those interested but who may have some afternoon races. The session is open to all interested people, not just those involved with the Masters Regatta. An alternate date may also be made available for those unable to attend on the 17th May should sufficient levels of interest exist.

A boat driving licence and some experience is preferable, however assistance will be provided to beginners and for those without a licence but wishing to obtain one.

Rowing NSW welcomes back Regatta Operations Manager Owen Nix following his extended period of leave. As we prepare for the NSW Masters Championships and the Australian Masters Rowing Championships, Owen’s operational support will assist greatly in the successful delivery of both events.

The app for boating safely in NSW

If you own a boat, download the Marine Rescue NSW app to help you stay safe on the water.

The app has tools and information including:

  • the option to log a trip, with live safety tracking updates, to help Marine Rescue NSW locate you if needed

  • tide, weather and sea conditions

  • boat ramp and fishing spot locations

  • safety checklists

  • emergency procedures.

Bike Helmets and Etiquette @ SIRC

We would like to thank everyone for complying with this request at our past few regattas at SIRC, and we look forward to seeing this continue.

  • Only coaches are able to access the bike paths to follow their crews down the course. Spectators will not be allowed to access the bike paths to walk around the venue or to ride up and down the course.
  • Please wear your bike helmets when riding around the venue.

Working with Children Checks

Working with Children Checks are valid for 5 years. If yours expires soon, you can now save time by renewing it online.

  • To help verify your identity, you’ll be asked to scan your face using the camera on your phone, tablet or computer. Your scan will then be matched with the photo on your NSW Driver Licence or NSW Photo Card. Scans will be permanently deleted after the check has been completed.
  • If you’d prefer, you can still renew in-person with your identity documents at a Service NSW centre.
