MEDIA RELEASE
TV COVERAGE FOR 2005 DHL AUSTRALIAN ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The 2005 DHL Australian Rowing Championships and Interstate Regatta, to be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre from March 7th to 13th, is expected to be one of the best publicised rowing events in Australia since the 2000 Olympic Games.
A one hour program featuring highlights from the full week of competition will be shown on the FOX Sports network in late March or early April, with daily racing highlights to be packaged on site, and played out each afternoon to FOX, ATN 7, TCN 9, TEN 10, ABC TV and SBS TV, for use in News and Sports programs.
On Saturday March 12th and Sunday March 13th, an Outside Broadcast Unit will be at the Regatta Centre to record all the action, and to transmit pictures to a 40 square metre digital video screen, located on the southern bank of the course, adjacent to the 1750 metre mark.
On Sunday, for the feature races of the program, including the ultimate in interstate rivalry, the Kings Cup, 8 cameras will track the teams from start to finish, to record all the agony and the ecstacy!
The New South Wales Rowing Association's Organising Committee has contracted G-Force Productions for the event, under Producer/Director Greg Clarke, one of Australia's foremost television sports directors.
Greg was recently Head of Production for the Seven Network coverage of the Australian Open Tennis Championships, and he has worked on some of the biggest sports events in the world. He was Director of the Host Broadcaster coverage of swimming at the Sydney and Athens Olympics, and is Seven's Chief Rugby Union Director. Greg has previously worked on rowing championships for the Seven Network.
The Committee has also been fortunate to acquire the assistance of other experienced media professionals in Gordon Bray, David Salter and Neil Bowes.
Gordon is well known as a sports commentator with the Seven Network, and although he is recognized as "the voice of Rugby", he is so passionate about the sport of rowing that he has given his time and expertise to help publicise the Nationals across Australia.
David Salter is a former Head of Sport for both the ABC and the Seven Network.
Neil Bowes has worked in television for over 20 years, and been involved in coverage of 2 Olympic Games, Paralympics, Rugby World Cup, FIFA World Cup, Manchester Commonwealth Games and the Tour de France.
For people who would like a permanent record of the 2005 DHL
Australian Rowing Championships and Interstate Regatta, G-Force
Productions will also produce a DVD, featuring both the FOX Sports
program, and many other highlights from the action packed week of racing
including the schools championships. The DVD will be for sale in April,
