G FORCE Productions has compiled a riveting one hour special on all the colour and spectacle of King's Cup Day 2005.
The program features the ten main finals at the Sydney International Regatta Centre starting with the National schoolgirl and schoolboy showdowns.
Behind the scenes regatta buildup also centres on the Queensland men's eight and its quest for victory after a 66 year drought and a visit to theTasmanian apple farm of Simon Burgess as he prepared for a record seventh straight success in the Penrith Cup.
Expert commentary is provided by four time Olympian Bo Hanson and Athens' rowing captain Vicky Roberts. Colour interviews with all victorious crews are conducted by triple Olympic gold medallist James Tomkins and former world champion Rebecca Joyce.
Producer Greg Clarke employed ten cameras in the coverage, including the tracking camera to follow each race from the start.
"The finished product is a valuable and entertaining keepsake for competitors and fans alike," Clarke said. "I believe it will prove to be the best compile of a national championship regatta yet seen in this country."
SEVEN sports commentator Gordon Bray, who assisted NSW Rowing with media coverage of the event, also says the rowing fraternity will be delighted with the finished product.
"Rowing deserves far greater public awareness and appreciation. It is one of our most successful Olympic sports yet the main players only surface in the media every four years," Bray observed.
"In association with Rowing Australia and with the tremendous backing of DHL, NSW Rowing turned on a terrific show at Penrith Lakes and it's important now to maintain momentum leading up to the world championships and beyond."
SEVEN's Sportsworld will also produce a feature on the women's team for the world titles in Japan this August. Watch this space for replay details.
The NSW Rowing Association is also producing a two hour DVD in association with G FORCE. Featured school semi-finals and finals (with commentary) will be included along with the entire race in the ten feature events on the last day of competition.
