Local Sporting Champions Grant Program

Feb 2, 2012

Dear NSW Clubs and Schools

The Australian Government has committed $3.2 million per year to the Local Sporting Champions grants program which helps 7,000 juniors from all over Australia compete in State and National championships.

If you work with young athletes, sporting teams or their parents this could assist you greatly with the NSW and Australian Rowing Championships just around the corner.

ABOUT THE GRANTS:   The Local Sporting Champions Grants program provides financial assistance to young athletes, coaches and officials who have to travel further than 250km return to participate in state or national sporting championships, or national school sport championships.

The Grants are for $500 per individual and $3000 per team and are available to young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years inclusive and can contribute toward the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment for the sporting championship.

Applications must be submitted prior to the commencement of the championship.

Grant applications are now open and this grant cycle (round 2) closes on 28th February, 2012. Round 3 closes in June 2012.
