Reminder: Rowing with Lights

Aug 10, 2017

The RMS has reported that there has been an increase in the number of unlit rowers on the Parramatta River over the last 3 weeks.

Rowing NSW would like to remind all our rowers to make sure they're safe while training. This includes the lighting that is required by all boats on the water between sunset and sunrise.

Although the new LED lights are brighter and more power-efficient, they still need to have their batteries replaced as they dim. Lights on rowing boats must be visible from at least 1km away, so it suggested that the batteries are replaced each season to ensure they are as visible as possible.

The NSW Maritime Code of Conduct for rowing and sculling shells is available here.
