2013-2014 FISA Samsung Rowing World Cup: Training Camp Centres

Oct 20, 2011

Dear Members,

For the first time ever, Australia will be hosting the opening round of the FISA Samsung World Rowing Cup in 2013 and 2014 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. This prestigious event will be hosted in conjunction with the Australian Open Rowing Championships, Australian Schools Championships and Interstate Regatta. The dates of the combined regatta are 18 to 24 March, 2013.

The ‘Sydney International Rowing Regatta’ will involve five days of the Australian Rowing Championships (Monday 18th to Friday 22nd March) with the Interstate Regatta, the morning of Saturday 23rd March. The World Cup (14 Olympic events) will begin with heats on Friday afternoon 22nd, repecharges on Saturday afternoon with finals of the World Cup on Sunday 24th March. In a fantastic development opportunity, the finals of the Australian Schools Championships events will be included within the Sunday FISA Samsung World Cup program.

In the lead up to the Regatta, a number of National teams will be wishing to conduct training camps within the Sydney area and NSW regional centres. We have already had interest from some of the major Federations in training in NSW. Some teams may also seek to conduct a training camp here after the World Cup. Team sizes and team training requirements will be different and therefore a number of Training Centres will be offered. It is the aim of the organizing committee to assist clubs, schools and teams in finding suitable training partnerships.

The 2013-2014 organizing committee is looking for expressions of interest from NSW based Clubs and Schools to become a Team Host and/or a Training Camp Centre.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for NSW clubs and schools to support the 2013 and 2014 FISA Samsung World Rowing Cup as well as hosting the world’s leading athletes and coaches involved in your club or school.  All NSW clubs and schools should view this as a great opportunity to inspire your members and for coaches to see how international teams conduct their training sessions.

I have attached a simple spreadsheet to be filled out by your club and school as an expression of your interest in becoming a FISA Samsung Rowing World Cup Training Centre.

If you have any questions relating to this opportunity please forward them to myself at Rowing NSW initially. In the coming weeks the event website will be launched that will coordinate all future communication channels relating to the Sydney International Rowing Regatta
