Aus LTA Mixed Four Qualifies for Rio Paralympics

Apr 26, 2016

The final Paralympic Qualification Regatta took place over the weekend in Gavirate, Italy, with crews from across the globe fighting for their chance to compete at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympics.

Amongst those crews was the Australian Leg, Trunk & Arms Mixed Coxed Four, aiming to qualify their boat for the first time in our country's history.

Featuring NSW rowers Jeremy McGrath, Kate Murdoch and NSW coxswain Jo Burnand, along with Western Australians Brock Ingram and Davina Lefroy, the Australian crew entered the regatta confident in securing a coveted Paralympics berth. Requiring a top-two finish to qualify, the Aussies did one better, leading from the front and holding off a fast-finishing Chinese crew to claim victory by 0.54 seconds.
