The commissions task is to have a "whole of sport" vision that will support objectives of growth and development. Charged with strategically developing the Rowing NSW Regatta Program on both an annual and multi-year rolling basis with the following objectives
- To manage the regatta calendar in such a way as to provide competitive opportunities for the major groups within Rowing NSW
- To produce a program that seeks to balance the need to ensure revenue, membership growth, enhance New South Wales' competitive position and engage as many groups as possible within the rowing community into the rowing program.
- To work with and engage with, on a regular basis, speciality interest groups.
- To take direction from the RNSW Board as the prioritized objectives of Rowing NSW

The Regatta Commission will ensure that it actively engages with and consults speciality interest groups within the rowing throughout its operations. To ensure regular and effective communication is maintained the Regatta Commission will host two member forums:
- August - analysis of seasonal statistics and strategy for the following season
- June - presentation of Regatta Calendar and Order of Events
Further to this communication strategy, the Regatta Commission resolved to publish to the membership various regatta statistics produced by RowingManager on a monthly basis. It is hoped that by publishing these statistics it will demonstrate greater transparency from the Regatta Commission in its current and future decision making, and elicit feedback from interested members in current trends in our regatta operations and identify possible future strategies for consideration
